CASE STUDY: DESIGNING THE P.R.A.C SERIES

Logo with the text THE HTP and slogan MIND BODY THRIVE.

Our Client

The Healthy Tradie Project

The Challenge

The Healthy Tradie Project was established with a clear mission: to proactively build a healthier construction industry by creating workplaces that are both physically and psychologically safe.

Founded on lived experience in construction, the initiative recognised that improving wellbeing required more than raising awareness. It required practical, evidence-based education that could be understood and applied by workers, supervisors, leaders and organisations operating in high-pressure environments.

To achieve that vision, Healthy Tradie Project sought to develop a structured learning system that extended beyond traditional compliance training. The objective was to create engaging, evidence-based programs, toolbox talks and practical learning experiences that built capability, encouraged behavioural change and supported healthier, safer workplaces across the construction industry.

Next Summit was engaged to design the learning architecture behind that vision, developing the P.R.A.C. Series and supporting resources that translated complex concepts into practical, workplace-ready learning experiences.

Our Approach

Every engagement begins with understanding the environment producing the current results.

For Healthy Tradie Project, that meant understanding the legislative landscape, the operational realities of the construction industry and the capability required across workers, leaders and organisations before designing a practical learning solution.

Our instructional design was informed by the Work Health and Safety Act and the evolving requirements for managing psychosocial hazards at work, ensuring the learning architecture aligned with contemporary Australian work health and safety expectations while remaining practical for operational environments.

Rather than developing standalone training, we designed an integrated capability framework that supported workers, supervisors, leaders and organisations through a progressive learning pathway.

Our contribution included:

  • Learning architecture and program design
  • Evidence-based instructional design
  • Learning outcomes and assessment frameworks
  • Facilitator guides and participant resources
  • Evaluation and measurement methodology
  • Organisational implementation planning

The result was a scalable learning system that transformed legislative requirements into practical capability development, supporting healthier workplaces and stronger organisational performance.

The Outcome

The Psychosocial Risk Awareness in Construction (P.R.A.C) Series is a scalable capability development program designed not only to strengthen psychosocial risk awareness, but to help organisations create healthier workplaces through practical capability development, stronger leadership and better organisational practices.

While aligned with contemporary legislative requirements, the P.R.A.C. Series was designed with a broader objective: helping organisations create the conditions where people are safer, healthier and able to consistently perform at their best.

The P.R.A.C. Series reflects Next Summit's capability in learning design and workforce development. Today, those same principles sit within the broader PACE Framework, where learning is considered one of many interventions used to improve the Performance Environment.
